BAiR Fall

The Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) program provides time and space for artists, curators, and arts professionals to create, research, experiment, and cultivate new directions in their work.

In addition to private studio space and facility use, artists are surrounded by a community of artistic peers and have the opportunity to attend inspiring talks and performances by world-renowned visiting artists, all within the Centre’s spectacular mountain setting in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

The Art of Stillness
Program Dates: September 26–October 8, 2016
Apply by June 22

This interdisciplinary residency provides artists the opportunity to work with expert faculty whose work explores stillness and its relationship to the creative process, while also providing the time to slow down, reclaim mind space, and hone their practice. Faculty include Diane Borsato, Pico Iyer, and Richard Reed Parry.

The Banff Centre supports the commissioning and creation of new work by individual artists and arts collectives, and provides resources for collaboration and applied research. Training and professional development is offered at the post-graduate level in more than a dozen art forms including, music, theatre, dance, opera, Indigenous arts, literature, ceramics, print-making, painting, papermaking, photography, sculpture, audio engineering, digital film and video, and new media.
