The Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan, ranked among the top eight graduate schools in the nation for art and design by the 2020 U.S. News and World Report, is currently accepting MFA in Art applications for Fall 2021.

Idea and material work together at Stamps, as the curriculum supports students in the creation of culturally relevant work with a clearly articulated context. Stamps MFA candidates are not bound by the constraints of media-specific majors, freeing them to make use of the University of Michigan’s rich academic community to conduct research and make inquiries when creating studio and post-studio work. Over the course of the two-year program, students produce a written thesis and exhibit work at the Stamps Gallery in downtown Ann Arbor.

For a visual introduction to the Stamps MFA program, view the class of 2020’s MFA thesis exhibition at stampsgrads.org.

To learn more about Stamps graduate programs, prospective students can register for virtual information sessions and open house events, which take place on a monthly basis.
