RAIR is a non-profit arts organization uniquely situated within a construction and demolition recycling center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. RAIR’s residency program provides artists on-site access to recovered materials as well as a studio space to produce work.

The workspace includes a large project space, wood shop equipment, metalworking facilities, access to the waste stream for materials, and a material storage area. Artists in residence receive attentive support from RAIR’s staff, who act as liaisons between the artist and the recycling facility. In addition to providing artists on-site access to recovered materials, construction equipment, and a fully equipped studio space, RAIR’s Residency Program offers artists the opportunity to use the entire three-and-a-half-acre facility as an expansive project space for the development and presentation of ambitious experimental work.

Applications are due by October 22 at 11:59pm (EDT). The fee to apply is $25. Applicants will be notified in early 2024.

RAIR offers 2024 artists-in-residence a stipend of $1,000. Applicants from outside Philadelphia are eligible for housing and travel reimbursement.

The jurors for this year’s open call are Abigail DeVille and Alex Klein, who will be selecting the 2024 artists-in-residence. Learn more about the jurors.
